Issues With Technology
1. New World
Many times we are resistant to change and unwilling to learn new things. This has become a problem with accepting the new technological age. This change is not limited to your school, district, state, or country; this new phenomena is a global adaptation that everyone is adapting to. Remember that this is for the students and their benefit, not for our comfort. We need to prepare students to the world of the future in all kinds of career settings, and the best way to do that is to use technology the best that we can. " We can take advantage of the features that new tools offer and tap into students' natural affinity for these tools in order to create learning experiences that expand their worldview and enhance what they learn." ( Solomon G., Lynne S., p. 24 ).
2. New Students
Students are not the same as they were a decade ago. "Having digital technology at their fingertips all the time means that students think, work, and play differently from previous generations." ( Solomon G., Lynne S., p. 27 ) Students are growing up in this technological era. They are surrounded by it in every other environment and schools and classrooms are no different. Students have already started learning using technology as early as preschool. As teachers we need to be able to use technology so that is fun and engaging; as well as, educational.
3. New Tools
Another overwhelming apect of technology can be all of the new "stuff". Technology can be everything from open source programs, school/ class websites, blogs, software programs, and smartboards. These can help with content management, organization, social networking, communication, and presentations. Getting use to this will take time but it will pay off for the teacher, the student, and the school in the end.
